Living on the beautiful island of Lombok, one of many of Indonesia’s islands means days start early. Every morning you can hear the rooster and you know it is time to wake up. My alarm is set for 5:00 am each morning, except Sunday.
My days start by offering prayers at the small family shrine. After praying time, I like to prepare breakfast for me and my husband. One of our favourite breakfasts is nasi goreng, sambal, and freshly sliced fruits. It is a meal that we always enjoy.
After breakfast I get ready to go to school. I teach Monday to Saturday from 7am to 11am. I get my bag filled with books and go to the school on my motorcycle.
The journey to school sometimes is easy when the school is close to my house and sometimes not so easy. When I travel further the roads are very broken and bumpy and sometimes, I get to my destination feeling sick. But I like all the schools I teach at very much, so even though the roads are so broken I would not give up.
When I arrive at the school and I see the students waiting for me, and how happy they are, it makes me very happy.
From 7:00 am to 11:00 am, I lead the English classes and the other teachers help me. I am very passionate when I see progress and when students are well-behaved and interested in my lessons. Once it happened that I was sick, and I didn’t go to school for 2 weeks. I had students that were upset with me that I missed the class, and they wanted to have their English lesson and I wasn’t there to teach them. I also feel proud when my students tell me that they want to become English Teachers like me.s

After school I go home, eat my lunch and usually, I clean the house.
In the evenings my husband takes me to the local market to pick up snacks, and then we go to the beach. We like to walk and sit on the beach and look at the waves. Many locals are doing the same. It is a place where we meet our friends very often.
I end my days around 10:00pm. Before I sleep, I like to watch things on my phone and read my books. I am passionate about music, and I like singing. I can play the guitar and at special events sometimes I am invited to sing. I like living in Lombok very much.
